People lean in to see the results of the coin flip that decided the Oneida County District 13 race. It landed on heads, which means Collette Sorgel won the seat.

A candidate running for District 13 in Oneida County has requested a recount.

This is the race that tied and ended with a coin flip to decide the winner.

Collette Sorgel ended up winning the coin flip. The other candidate, Brian Slizewski has requested a recount.

As WXPR reported, in races with fewer than 4,000 voters and fewer than 10 votes separating the candidates, a candidate can request a recount at no charge.

Oneida County Clerk Tracy Hartman approved the recount late Monday afternoon.

It will take place this Wednesday at 9:00 at the Oneida County courthouse.
