A two-week jury trial has been avoided after a murder suspect entered a plea Monday morning to an amended homicide charge.
41 year old Shannon Wolf was found guilty by Judge Michael Bloom in Oneida County Circuit Court. Wolf was charged with 1st-degree murder in the death of Kenneth Wells in 2003. Wells body was found floating in the Wisconsin River.
The death remained as undetermined, until Wolf's ex-wife Latoya came forward last year saying Shannon allegedly killed Wells near the river and dumped his body. Shannon Wolf was already serving a dozen years in prison on another case where he attacked his ex-wife. She was sent to prison late last year for being a party to Wells' death, but with a reduced sentence because of her cooperation in the Wells case.
The court agreed to amend the first degree homicide charge down to party to the crime of 2nd-degree intentional homicide. Wolf then took an Alford plea, which means he asserts his innocence but admits the prosecution likely has enough evidence to convince a jury of his guilt.
Wolf will be sentenced Friday morning in Oneida County Court.
