U.S.Senators Johnson, Ernst In Rhinelander Saturday

Wisconsin U.S. Senator Ron Johnson was joined by Iowa Senator Joni Ernst Saturday in Rhinelander as part of a roundtable discussion.

Johnson is locked in a tight reelection campaign, but with the news still fresh about Hillary Clinton's emails, he wasted no time talking about the FBI investigation...

"...if she didn't have the name Hillary Clinton, if she was applying for a low level job in the State Department, she couldn't get a security clearance based on how she has already handled sensitive national security information...."

Ernst echoed Johnson's view....

"...if this had been any other person out there, they would have gone through a much more rigorous investigation and probably not end up with a favorable outcome as Hillary Clinton did...."

Clinton Friday asked the FBI to release all the facts about the investigation.

At the roundtable, Johnson and Ernst heard about efforts in the Northwoods to improve broadband coverage and the Good Neighbor agreement with the Forest Service, where federal woodlands are also managed by state and county foresters.

But roundtable moderator State Senator Tom Tiffany, who recently held a summit to change federal laws on wolf regulation, introduced several speakers who want Congress to overturn  a judge's decision to put wolves in this area back on the endangered species list.

Johnson has introduced legislation to return wolf management to the states, but says it needs U.S. Senate support to get a vote...

"....I spoke with(U.S. Senate leadership). It would be helpful if you contacted Wisconsin's other U.S. Senator(Tammy Baldwin) and have her be supportive because the people who want to strip it out would be Democrats in the Senate...."

Recent polls indicate former Senator Democrat Russ Feingold with a lead over  Republican Johnson with the election one week away.
