Local Clerk Says Many Turn Out For Early Voting
Rhinelander is apparently following national trends with many people choosing to vote early.
As of Wednesday, 460,000 early votes cast in Wisconsin as election day nears. The trend was continuing at Rhinelander's City Clerk reports heavy absentee voting.
City Clerk Val Foley says at the office they've had a busy week...
".....early voting has been heavier than normal. We are almost to 500 voters at this point in time. You can still early vote until Friday of this week then there will be no more (early voting) and you will have to go to the polls....."
If you apply for an absentee ballot in your municipal clerk's office, or another designated location for in-person absentee voting, you will vote your ballot immediately in the clerk's office, seal your ballot in the proper envelope, and return it to a member of the clerk's staff. No ballots may be taken out of the clerk's office.
Foley was asked if you do need a photo ID....
"....they certainly do. yes, they will have to provide photo ID to us just as they would if they're going to the polls...."
Foley says you can still early vote until Friday of this week then there will be no more early voting and you will have to go to the polls.
