OC UW-Extension Making Outreach, Feldman To Retire

Changes are happening at Oneida County UW-Extension.

The Extension has been part of a funding cutback and reshaping of its organization mandated by state officials.

Locally, Steve Nelson is the UW-Extension Director covering Florence, Forest, Vilas, and Oneida counties and the Lac du Flambeau and Forest County Potawatomi tribes. He gave a yearly update of to the Oneida County Board on Tuesday, here talking about outreach... 

"...the outreach we've done through Extension programs reached 11,234 people in Oneida county. We have 82 volunteers working with Extension and we've generated over 5,000 hours of time with those individuals..."

The Oneida County Extension has Family Living, 4-H and Youth Development, Community, Natural Resources and Economic Development, and Nutrition and supportdepartments.

Supervisor Bob Mott announced the retirement of long time 4-H leader Lynn Feldman, who thanked the board...

"....I have learned so much and I compliment this particular board because I do feel they take in information, they do listen and you look to the future and make decisions that you feel is best for the future, and I thank you for that. There have been challenging times and I really did feel throughout all this that there was mutual respect. So I thank you for the opportunity to work with Oneida county...."

Nelson says they will fill the position with a 4-H and youth development educator working in Price and Oneida counties.
