Another Republican To Announce Bid For Congressional Seat

Linked in Jason Church

HUDSON, WI (WSAU) -- A December 30th primary for US Representative Sean Duffy's now-vacant seat in Congress is now required.

US Army Veteran Jason Church, a Menomonie native, announced his intent to run on the Republican ticket for the seat on Tuesday.

Church served in Afghanistan in 2012 as an Army Ranger, where he was the victim of an IED attack that led to the amputation of both his legs below the knee. He was discharged at the rank of Captain in 2014. He went on to earn a Masters of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Church earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, where he also played football. Church announced his campaign in a YouTube video, which is attached to this story. Church will face State Senator Tom Tiffany in the December 30th Republican primary.

The election to replace Duffy will take place January 27th. So far no Democratic candidates have emerged for the seat.
