Rhinelander Council Takes No Action On Administrator

HodagTV

The Rhinelander Common Council Monday held a lengthy closed session to discuss the status of City Administrator Daniel Guild and other pending legal concerns, but when done, the meeting ended without action.

The new council held a regular session that included routine matters. At 7:35 p.m. they went into closed session to evaluate the performance of Guild during his administrative leave and consider the conditions under his contract. They also discussed possible actions, according to the agenda.

Also in closed session were discussions about a pending federal case involving the city's former Public Works Director Tim Kingman, other possible litigation and the status of a collective bargaining agreement with the police union.

Two hours and 15 minutes later, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced there was no action taken in closed session and adjourned the meeting. Guild is scheduled to be in court next month facing one charge, Misconduct in Public Office and Fail to Perform Known Duty following a months-long investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff's Department. He is on paid administrative leave.
