Iron Mtn. VA Hospital Gets 5 Star Rating Again

Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center

Every year since 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services(CMS) have awarded the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center it's highest rating for patient experience. This year was no different.

The Centers use the five-star quality rating system to measure the experiences of those using the services at the Iron Mountain facility with a clinic in Rhinelander.

Spokesperson John Jamison says the ratings have been released 8 times and the facility received a top award each time....

"So almost 3,500 hospitals that are assigned a star rating. The five-star ratings there are 266 hospitals and eight of those are VA Medical Centers. We were one of those VA Medical Centers that won one of those five-star ratings..."

Results were based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems scores collected by the federal administrator of the nation's major healthcare programs.

Jamison says CMS began including VA hospitals in the rating guide in 2017, competing against non-VA hospitals for the rating. He says veterans should be assured they get quality care from the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
