Antigo Police have identified Derek Goplin, 38, as a person of interest in a homicide case Monday.

The woman stabbed to death in Antigo was the mother of the suspect.

Antigo police say Derek Goplin was arrested in Racine County Wednesday night.

Captain Dan Duley of the Antigo Police Department provided an update at a press conference Thursday.

“He was located at a boat landing by a citizen. He was looking sick, and that citizen transported him to a hospital. The Town of Waterford was notified about the vehicle being at the boat landing. They went and checked and found it was our suspect vehicle in this incident”

The body of 63-year-old Susan Reese was found at her Antigo home Monday.

Duley offered condolences to the family and friends of Susan Reese on behalf of the city of Antigo, and the talked about the impact on the community.

“It touches everybody’s heart in our community. We’re a small community… everybody knows everybody kind of thing…. so it certainly touches the community.”

An investigator will be talking to Goplin, who is expected to be returned to Langlade County to face charges.
