The Town of Lac du Flambeau is looking into different route possibilities around roadblocks on Tribal land.On January 31st, the Lac du Flambeau Tribe put up barriers on four roads on tribal land that block access to private property within the reservation.The tribe says it’s been trying to negotiate with the town and involved title companies for nearly 10 years after right-of-way agreements ended.Without a good faith offer, it won’t lift the barriers.

The Town of Lac du Flambeau will try again to communicate with the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Government, though what that message is wasn’t made public at yesterday’s Town Board meeting.It’s been more than a week since private homeowners within the Lac du Flambeau reservation boundaries have had road access to their homes.

The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa says it has no intention of removing the barriers it put up on four roads until a good faith offer is made.Those barriers are currently blocking access to dozens of homes of non-tribal members who own homes within the reservation boundaries.
