Heavy October Snow Knocks Out Power to Thousands

Update: As of 4:00 p.m. there are fewer than 100 customers without power according to the WPS outage map. 

Original Post: The heavy October snow is weighing down on powerlines throughout northcentral Wisconsin. As of 6:30 on Wednesday morning, the Wisconsin Public Service outage map was showing more than 3,000 customers without power.

In a facebook post, WPS said, "Our crews are responding to repair outages caused by multiple inches of heavy, wet snow, and are working to restore service as safely and quickly as possible."

The record-breaking snowfall dropped about six inches of snow on Rhinelander.
