Ribbon Cutting For New Market, Retail Complex In LDF

Karl Robe

The official ribbon-cutting Wednesday means an upgraded grocery and retail development in downtown Lac du Flambeau.

LDF Business Development Corporate Retail Director, Dan Bonavia,  says the new retail center will offer residents more choices at the Country Market, which is located near the current store..

"This has been years and years in the making I think is a fair way to say it. We're still in awe that it is actually happening. It's all levels of our organization and several others making sure this came to fruition and is as beautiful as it is..."

Bonavia says the new retail structure houses : grocery, gas, the smoke shop, deli, and convenience. It will provide enhanced bakery with larger meat and produce selections and more. Bonavia says he's excited for the greater selection for the community...

"...just how excited we are to have this here and the upgrade that it is, not just in the facility but what it will provide to the community is huge and we're excited to share it with everybody..."

The project was said to be in the $3 million dollar range. Bonavia says the new retail facility is but one area of the overall retail site plan. Other opportunities are envisioned for future growth and expansion.

He sees this as a another opportunity to help deliver on the mission of generating revenue and jobs.
