50 years ago, the first Rustic Road in Wisconsin received its formal designation.Now, the program is up to 126 roads spanning hundreds of miles across the state.

The Save Our Rustic Road group says they’ve made progress working with Vilas County to preserve the characteristics of County Highway K between Star Lake and Boulder Junction.

A growing group of people fear the Rustic Road designation on County Highway K is in jeopardy because of work being done by the county highway department.
