Merrill-Area Crash Kills One Teenager, Injures Two More; Driver In Custody

A one-car crash in Lincoln County early Wednesday morning killed one person and injured two others. Now, the driver of that car is in custody.

All three people in the car were 16 years old, and all were from Merrill.

The crash was reported at 1:14 a.m. on Shady Lane Avenue, just northeast of the city of Merrill.

When deputies arrived, they found one passenger had been thrown from the car and died.

Another passenger was taken to the trauma center at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

The driver was treated for injuries, released from a medical facility, and placed in custody.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is reconstructing the crash.

Names of the teenagers involved will be released Thursday.
