Bike trails

Vilas and Oneida Counties are seeing success with the Cycling Without Age program introduced a couple of years ago.The local ADRC offices say they’ve been a great way to improve mental health and get people outdoors.

A new bike trail planned between Merrill and Wausau received more funding from the River District Development Foundation of Merrill.

Resident Ben Meyer is working with the Parks and Recreation Department to create the trail.

Just before the snow and cold set in here in the Northwoods, the Town of Lake Tomahawk completed the latest paved bike trail in Oneida County.

The St. Germain Chamber of Commerce has dedicated $70,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds to maintaining local trails. The money is divided between the St. Germain ATV club, the Bo-Boen Snowmobile club and the St. Germain non-motorized trail committee.

The Vilas County highway committee approved six areas along Hwy H in the town of Boulder Junction for development of proposed bike trail.

People camping north of Lake Tomahawk will soon be able to access the town by bike.Lake Tomahawk is currently raising money to covert old railroad grade to a multi-use trail.
